Speaking fluency is one of the most important goals in learning English as a foreign language. However, many learners face difficulties in speaking smoothly and confidently due to poor pronunciation, lack of practice, and limited phonetic awareness. Phonetic drills are systematic pronunciation exercises designed to improve articulation, stress, rhythm, and intonation. This article examines the role of phonetic drills in developing speaking fluency among English language learners. It discusses different types of phonetic drills, their advantages, and their impact on learners’ speaking ability. The paper also highlights practical classroom techniques and strategies for teachers to integrate phonetic drills into speaking activities. The study concludes that regular phonetic drilling significantly improves pronunciation accuracy, speech rhythm, and overall fluency.
