Grammar teaching is one of the fundamental aspects of foreign language education. Among the most widely used approaches in grammar instruction are the inductive and deductive methods. These methods differ in the way grammatical rules are introduced and practiced in the classroom. The deductive method focuses on presenting grammar rules first, followed by examples and exercises, while the inductive method encourages learners to discover grammar rules through observation and analysis of language examples. This article examines the characteristics, advantages, disadvantages, and classroom applications of both methods in grammar teaching. It also discusses the impact of these approaches on students’ language development, motivation, and communicative competence. The study concludes that both methods have significant value in English language teaching and that teachers should combine them according to learners’ needs and classroom situations.
