Grammar plays a crucial role in language learning and communication. Throughout the history of language education, different approaches have been developed to teach grammar effectively. Traditional approaches focus on explicit instruction, memorization of rules, and accuracy, while modern approaches emphasize communication, learner interaction, and contextualized grammar use. This article examines the characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages of both traditional and modern approaches to grammar teaching. Furthermore, it discusses how combining elements of both methods can contribute to successful language learning outcomes. The study concludes that an integrated approach can help learners develop both grammatical accuracy and communicative competence.
