The Impact of Artificial Intelligence Tools on the Academic Performance and Learning Strategies of University Students

The rapid emergence of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools fundamentally reshapes the academic environment, making it crucial to understand their true impact on university students' academic performance and learning strategies. While AI offers unprecedented gains in efficiency by accelerating research and writing processes , over-reliance poses a significant threat to core learning strategies by risking "cognitive offloading" and undermining critical thinking development. This study argues that to sustain the integrity and quality of education , institutions must prioritize the immediate revision of academic integrity policies and the proactive integration of AI literacy into the curriculum. The future of academic success requires balancing AI's technological advantages with pedagogical integrity.
