LEXICAL-SEMANTIC ANALYSIS OF ADRAS-WEAVING VOCABULARY

Abstract

The aim of this article is to conduct a systematic lexical-semantic and historical-etymological analysis of the occupational vocabulary specific to the adras-weaving school of the Fergana Valley, particularly Margilan. The relevance of the topic lies in the fact that the vocabulary of adras-weaving has not yet been fully studied in Uzbek linguistics: it is not recorded in the Explanatory Dictionary of the Uzbek Language and has not been terminologically documented in accordance with UNESCO requirements. Descriptive, historical-comparative, and etymological analysis were used as the research methodology. Systematically studying the vocabulary of adras-weaving and carrying out its terminological inventory is of pressing importance from the standpoint of preserving intangible cultural heritage.
