Abstract

This article provides a comparative analysis of synonyms in the
English and Uzbek languages, focusing on their semantic, stylistic, and functional
features. The study examines similarities and differences in synonym usage,
formation, and contextual meaning in both languages. Special attention is given to
how cultural and linguistic factors influence synonymy, as well as the role of
synonyms in enriching speech and ensuring communicative effectiveness. The
research employs a descriptive and comparative method to analyze selected lexical
units from both languages. The findings highlight that while both English and
Uzbek possess rich synonymic resources, their usage patterns and stylistic nuances
differ significantly due to structural and cultural distinctions. The study contributes
to the fields of comparative linguistics and translation studies.
