Abstract

This article discusses the importance of speaking skills in English language learning. Speaking is one of the main language skills that helps learners express their ideas, opinions, and feelings in real communication. The study shows that developing speaking skills improves learners’ fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary use, grammar accuracy, and self-confidence. It also explains common difficulties faced by students, such as fear of making mistakes, limited vocabulary, poor pronunciation, and lack of practice. The article highlights that interactive activities, including pair work, group discussions, role-plays, debates, and presentations, are effective methods for improving speaking ability. In addition, modern technologies and online platforms can provide learners with more opportunities to practice English outside the classroom. Therefore, speaking skills are essential for successful English language learning and effective communication.
