Abstract

The Timurid period (1370–1507) occupies a distinguished place in the history of Uzbekistan and world civilization. Under the leadership of Amir Timur and his successors, particularly Mirzo Ulugh Beg, the region experienced remarkable political stability, economic prosperity, and unprecedented achievements in science, education, architecture, and the arts. Samarkand and Herat became internationally recognized centers of culture, scholarship, and commerce, attracting scholars, architects, poets, and artists from different parts of the world. Monumental architectural masterpieces, including madrasas, mosques, mausoleums, and observatories, reflected the high level of artistic and engineering excellence attained during this period. The scientific contributions of Mirzo Ulugh Beg, especially in astronomy and mathematics, gained worldwide recognition and significantly influenced the development of global science. The Timurid Renaissance also witnessed remarkable progress in literature, miniature painting, calligraphy, and urban planning. The cultural heritage created during this era continues to serve as an important source of national identity and historical pride for Uzbekistan. This thesis examines the historical significance of the Timurid state, its cultural achievements, and its lasting contribution to the development of world civilization.
